Description

This is for <da:thumb id="484536536">. We're supposed to choose two different animals that represent us and explain why the animals were chosen :) **Claps with Glee** This is where being a Shaman comes in handy! LMAO!
So in lieu of sounding like a book on Totem Animals, here's my entry :)

Cockatiel

* Cockatiels are very laid back birds who tend to get picked on a lot by more agressive species, including budgies. They take a lot of abuse and when they defend themselves, they sure can bite!  This sooo resembles me as ever since I was a kid, I've been the one everyone picked on. However, I pack a wallop once I snap. It's just a matter of pushing me that hard. I sqwuak and squeal a lot to make my mood known, but people get offended when I finally lash out.
* Cockatiels are one of the popular species of pet birds for a reason. They're friendly and easy to tame. This resembles me in that most people find me friendly and easy to get along with, but because of my good naturedness, I get taken advantage of, just like the numerous cockatiels abandoned each year.
* Their lack of annoying, bright colours is like me, too, in that we're not much to look at. We use our personality to get noticed. We don't have to use colour to get noticed. I tend to dress ind ark colours.
* These guys tend to be one of the quieter birds volume wise, but they have a lot to say! Just like me! Females can appear introverted, again, a trait I share.
* The facial/head markings are symbolic to me, as I have a paralyzed half a face and I tend to live inside my head more than most people.
*Cockatiels are nomads and I've moved a lot over the years :)
* Cockatiel, although nomads, are quite the homebodies in the home. Sure, they may explore once in a while, but with age, the like to settle down and stay home. Like me!

Orca

* Water is associated with emotions in some cultures, and Orca is said to be a master of emotion. I suffer from several mood disorders and Orca represents, to me, being able to traverse emotions easily and skillfully. Water is also a female symbol, and Orcas are a matriarchy. Females are powerful people in my family and Orca symbolizes that ability for the females in my family to get things done without slipping into stereotypes.
* Like cockatiel, we can be misunderstood. While cockatiel represents being misunderstood as a whole, Orca represents the aspect of myself related to emotions and family. (There was a lot of abuse in my early family life)
* The dark colours associated with Orca are camouflage. So is the fact seal eating Orca are silent hunters. I'm one of those people who will work silently when after a project but I choose my projects carefully. The camoflauge ties into emotions. If I never told you I was mentally ill, no one would tell I was sick.
* I can be skillful at getting at what I want and  seal hunting Orca will risk stranding themselves on land to capture seals. What I want varies - could be food, could be revenge on an enemy (often done when people least expect it) or finding relief from everyday hazards. (This last one could also be seen in how some orca swim against sand to relive themselves of itches and parasites).
*Family is important to Orca. This ties into my mom's side of the family where we're quite close and my Oma runs the place.
* I love swimming! It's the only physical activity I like that doesn't drive me bonkers, LOL!
*Orca speak with their own special language and like me, are not understood because of it. My own 'special language' revolves around my hobbies, such as collecting transformers and raising birds.
*Orca are nomads and I've moved a lot over the years :)
